Last Off - A Titanic Novella by Laughton Chandler

Four young stowaways — illegal passengers, below even the 3rd class — find themselves on the R.M.S. Titanic, the grandest ocean liner in the world on her maiden voyage. At first unknown to each other, hailing from four different countries, they begin to learn about each others’ pasts as they bide their time in the bowels of the ship, united in their hopes of making a new life in America. When disaster strikes, what will become of them? Who, if any, will be able to escape the epic tragedy Walter Lord described as ‘the death of a small town’

My Review

In this novella, we are introduced to four young men, who are stowaways, in the R.M.S Titanic.

The author does a great job describing each of the stowaways personalities.  I won't go into alot of detail due to spoilers but I will say I was crying at the end.  It was a very bittersweet ending.  The thought that those two sections separated is something I would really like to see investigated more.  I have seen several documentaries regarding the Titanic and would forward to seeing more regarding this.

And honestly I would love a mini series regarding this novella and the story behind these young stowaways.  We know how the upper and middle class areas of the ship looked like.  I'd love to learn more about the ones who stowed away.

The only complaint, if any I would have, is that I wish the author would have wrote more regarding what happened to each of the characters.  However, I understand with it being a novella, the length of the book/novel is a bit shorter.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to review this book.
